Mi Primer Bitcoin, an educational initiative based in El Salvador, has announced the launch of its updated Bitcoin Diploma program, featuring a new open-source approach. Originally established in 2021, the initiative coincided with El Salvador becoming the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender. The updated program was developed in collaboration with Bitcoin educators and enthusiasts from around the world, offering a comprehensive curriculum that covers various aspects of Bitcoin, from its history to its technical workings and everyday applications. Notably, the program is now open-source, with all materials freely available on GitHub, in an effort to encourage collaboration and translation efforts globally. John Dennehy, the founder and executive director of Mi Primer Bitcoin, emphasized the transformative potential of Bitcoin education, highlighting how it fosters financial literacy and promotes creativity, innovation, and long-term planning. The previous diploma, taught to over 25,000 students in El Salvador, has already been translated into nine languages, with 26 translations currently in progress for the updated program. Mi Primer Bitcoin has also expanded its reach beyond El Salvador, collaborating with educational institutions and governments internationally.
