Oslo Freedom Forum A Bitcoin Conference that is anything but about Bitcoin

In 2023, I had the pleasure of attending over a dozen conferences, and in 2022, I had the opportunity to be a part of at least 15. I had the privilege of hosting some of these events, serving as an MC, and orchestrating various activities such as quizzes, game shows, and talks to engage and challenge the audience. As a result, I have gained valuable insight into conferences, networking events, and how to captivate and retain an audience.

Reflecting on these experiences, it is clear that the Oslo Freedom Forum, which I had the privilege of attending in June, was unlike any other event. Set in the serene and sophisticated capital of Norway, the Oslo Freedom Forum is a remarkable gathering. From the early hours of the morning at the Oslo Concert Hall, attendees are taken on a journey around the world, delving into profound human experiences.

The event brings together a diverse group of individuals, including activists and entertainers from various parts of the world, who take to the stage to exercise their freedom of speech. The exchange of ideas and the clash of perspectives create an energy that is truly unparalleled. From thought-provoking discussions on a range of topics including trans debates and war, to emotional performances, the Oslo Freedom Forum is a well-polished and captivating spectacle.

The conversations and debates that stem from the event cover a wide array of subjects, from Bitcoin and financial freedom tools to broader social and political issues. Notably, Bitcoin advocates such as Lyn Alden also graced the main stage to discuss topics related to the cryptocurrency. Although Bitcoin is not the main focus of the event, its significance was highlighted by Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, who used the platform to emphasize the protocol’s importance.

The off-stage experiences at the Oslo Freedom Forum are equally unique and enriching. From interacting with renowned figures to engaging in thought-provoking discussions and cultural experiences, the event offers a truly immersive and unforgettable experience.

In addition to the personal and cultural experiences, the Oslo Freedom Forum has also provided me with valuable professional opportunities. As a Bitcoin journalist, the event has given me the chance to explore new Bitcoin leads and gather insights into freedom technologies in different parts of the world. This has inspired me to continue my work in documenting Bitcoin communities and sharing stories of Bitcoin adoption around the globe.

The Oslo Freedom Forum serves as a reminder that amidst the challenges and adversities faced by humanity, there is still room for joy, laughter, and resilience. It is a call to action for individuals to use their words and actions to effect positive change in the world. The event’s unique blend of thought-provoking discussions, cultural experiences, and messages of hope make it a truly exceptional and transformative experience.

While the Oslo Freedom Forum is not a Bitcoin conference, it stands out as a one-of-a-kind event that brings together diverse perspectives and experiences. If I had to choose just one event to attend from the Bitcoin and crypto calendar, it would undoubtedly be the Oslo Freedom Forum. I am already looking forward to next year’s event, eager to once again be a part of this remarkable gathering.
