Crypto Executives and Harris Campaign Officials to Convene for Roundtable Discussion

Crypto industry leaders are set to hold a private meeting next week with aides from the White House and Democratic Representative Ro Khanna to discuss urgent matters and suggest policy reforms.

According to a report from Bloomberg, this roundtable will feature senior officials from Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign, as well as high-ranking members of the White House team, including outgoing senior adviser Anita Dunn, National Economic Adviser Lael Brainard, and Deputy Chief of Staff Bruce Reed.

**White House Engages with Crypto Sector**

This meeting may indicate the administration’s readiness to engage with the cryptocurrency industry and address its regulatory concerns, underscoring the increasing significance of the digital asset sector in U.S. political discourse.

This upcoming roundtable follows a previous one held in July, which also facilitated substantial dialogue between crypto executives and White House representatives. That earlier gathering included leaders from major cryptocurrency companies like Ripple and Coinbase.

Around 50 million Americans are now involved in digital asset investments, prompting U.S. presidential candidates to pursue support and contributions from cryptocurrency-focused voters.

Former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee, has actively courted the crypto community, capitalizing on industry leaders’ frustrations with President Joe Biden’s stringent regulatory stance. In a speech delivered on July 27 at the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Tennessee, Trump promised to position America as a global hub for cryptocurrency and vowed to remove U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Gary Gensler if he returns to office.

**Rebuilding Relationships**

Trump has reportedly raised over $25 million from crypto supporters since his campaign began accepting Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies as donations in May.

In July, advisers to Harris reached out to prominent crypto firms in an effort to repair the strained relationship between the Democratic Party and the cryptocurrency sector. Following a letter from Democratic Party House representatives, there is an increasing call for the party to reassess its approach to digital assets. The correspondence highlights the need to shift from a seemingly adversarial stance to a more supportive one.

Additionally, the Harris campaign has brought on David Plouffe as a senior adviser. A seasoned strategist, Plouffe explored potential opportunities within the cryptocurrency landscape after leaving the White House in 2013 and joined Binance’s Global Advisory Board in 2022.

It remains unclear whether Plouffe’s role will specifically focus on cryptocurrency and blockchain-related matters.

**Magazine: Crypto voters are already reshaping the 2024 election — and this trend is likely to persist.**
