Germany’s DZ Bank has teamed up with Boerse Stuttgart Digital to provide cryptocurrency trading and custody services to its cooperative bank network. This partnership will allow approximately 700 cooperative banks under DZ Bank to offer retail customers the option to access digital assets like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH). The phased roll-out plan will begin later this year, initially allowing select retail clients to test the new crypto trading offering. Boerse Stuttgart Group also plans to establish a regulated exchange, BX Digital, in Switzerland for tokenized securities. The operational and technical elements of the new service are already underway, and the first banks are expected to be connected by the end of 2024. Boerse Stuttgart Digital will provide regulatory infrastructure and technical elements for DZ Bank’s crypto services. Germany’s Landesbank Baden-Württemberg also announced plans to offer crypto custody solutions in partnership with Bitpanda starting in the second half of 2024.
