South African comedian and entertainer Trevor Noah expressed regret for not purchasing Bitcoin when it had no value. Noah, known for hosting “The Daily Show,” shared his thoughts during the opening night of Web Summit Qatar 2024 in Doha on February 26. While discussing his passion for technology and the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), he admitted that not investing in Bitcoin was one of his biggest mistakes. He also acknowledged that he should have taken the time to understand the cryptocurrency. Noah has previously discussed cryptocurrencies and nonfungible tokens (NFTs) on “The Daily Show,” making jokes about crypto terminology and price volatility. In 2018, false rumors circulated claiming that Noah was leaving the show to pursue Bitcoin trading through an investment scheme called “Bitcoin Revolution South Africa.” However, these articles have since been deleted. Noah officially left “The Daily Show” in 2022. The Web Summit Qatar conference, which focuses on fintech and AI, began on February 26 and will continue until February 29. During the opening, the Prime Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, announced a $1 billion investment by the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) in venture capital funds to support entrepreneurs and emerging technologies. Despite Noah’s regret over missed crypto opportunities, his net worth is estimated to be around $100 million. Meanwhile, Bitcoin prices reached a 25-month high of $56,700 on February 27, with a market capitalization surpassing $1.1 trillion. The cryptocurrency has seen a significant 34% increase in the past 30 days and is currently only 18.5% below its all-time high of $69,000 in November 2021.
