Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan, who had been held in prison in Nigeria for over seven months, has been cleared of all charges by the Nigerian government. The announcement was made by a lawyer representing the government prosecutor, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), at the Federal High Court in Abuja on October 23rd, as reported by local news agency Premium Times.
The EFCC lawyer stated that Gambaryan, a US citizen, did not hold a senior position at Binance, which was the main target of the prosecution. The charges against Gambaryan were dropped just two days before a scheduled courtroom session on October 25th. It is believed that the hearing on Wednesday was intentionally kept low-key to minimize public attention.
