ZachXBT, a well-known blockchain investigator, has declined to assist Complex memecoin holders following the sudden shutdown of the project on April 4.
In a statement, the protocol’s team expressed their difficult decision to sunset Complex, citing instances of harassment that have negatively affected the mental well-being of their team members. They emphasized that the project had been a labor of love and a source of inspiration for them.
Despite the project’s closure, holders of Complex’s native token, SIMPLE, will still be able to sell their holdings until a later date when the token will be liquidity-locked. However, the value of the SIMPLE token has dropped by over 90% in the past 24 hours, resulting in a negligible market cap.
Many users expressed dissatisfaction with the developers’ explanation of mental health as the main reason for shutting down the project. One user criticized the developers for using mental health as an excuse, calling their post pathetic and accusing them of rug-pulling.
Frustrated users turned to ZachXBT for help, but he too expressed dissatisfaction with the influx of requests. He stated that he had no interest in meme coins and preferred helping actual victims rather than those who willingly gambled on vaporware coins. He also expressed his disappointment in people who spoke poorly of him while expecting his assistance for free.
Another user seemed to have a deeper understanding of the situation and praised ZachXBT for his work, acknowledging the challenges he faces in exposing scams.
The Complex memecoin project appears to have ended shortly after its debut on March 30, with a peak of 3,013 token holders. Memecoins have shown significant returns during the ongoing crypto bull market, with an average of 1,312.6% among the top tokens by market capitalization.
