The Olympus Acceleration Platform, launched by the Dfinity Foundation, a non-profit organization headquartered in Switzerland and a major contributor to the Internet Computer blockchain, has been announced. In a press release, Dfinity stated that Olympus is the first decentralized, on-chain Web3 accelerator. The foundation emphasized that this platform, which it described as “a first of its kind,” will be utilized by teams worldwide to organize and initiate their own accelerator programs.
What sets Olympus apart from similar accelerator programs, according to the foundation, is its “Open Stake” model. This model allows projects, mentors, and investors to freely interact, facilitating an inclusive ecosystem that supports unlimited integrations, all without requiring permission.
Dominic Williams, the founder and chief scientist of the Dfinity Foundation, referred to the platform as “a global platform for everyone.” He stated that the platform will include a “trustless perpetual loop,” which will provide on-chain verification of essential project growth metrics using the Internet Computer Protocol’s infrastructure.
The Internet Computer, a decentralized computing platform that utilizes blockchain technology to host software directly on the internet, aims to democratize internet infrastructure and promote a more open and fair digital ecosystem, according to its mission.
Olympus was developed with support from Web3Labs, a blockchain accelerator based in Hong Kong, and received mentorship and support from investors and partners at various VC funds, including Fenbushi Capital, Fundamental Labs, Softbank Vision Fund, NewTribe Capital, Cypher Capital, Bitcoin Frontier Fund, Summer Ventures, L2IV, Dext Force Ventures, Leadblock Partners, viaBTC Capital, Cipholio Ventures, Chiron Group, 3X Capital, Plutus.VC, and others.
