The Blockchain for Good Alliance (BGA) made its official debut on April 15 during the Blockchain Life Dubai event. The BGA, a collaborative network comprised of organizations, projects, and individuals dedicated to utilizing blockchain technology to address global social, environmental, and economic challenges, has established partnerships with a diverse array of blockchain-based organizations. These include Bybit Web3, Solana Foundation, Aptos, Moledao, Harvard Blockchain Club, ICP.Hub UAE, American University of Sharjah (AUS), Coineasy, Libera, Edu3Labs, Alchemy Pay, Bu Zhi DAO, and XueDAO.
The alliance, recently launched, will function as a nurturing space for blockchain technology, as stated on its website. It aims to facilitate networking opportunities that connect developers with mentors, resources, and events. Abbie, a representative from the Harvard Blockchain Club, expressed their support for the BGA, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives.
One of the BGA’s partners, Moledao, a blockchain social platform, described the alliance as a crucial step towards achieving mass adoption in a YouTube video uploaded on April 14.
Silvia Semenzin, an Italian researcher from the GRASIA Research Group at the Institute of Knowledge Technology, Complutense University of Madrid, recently explored the concept of “blockchain for good” in a research article published on Sage Journals. Semenzin highlighted that many initiatives aiming to use blockchain technology for the greater good are often driven by profit motives or lack an understanding of the disparities in financial circumstances across different social classes.
To address concerns typically associated with technology-driven endeavors, the Blockchain for Good Alliance will operate as a non-profit organization.
In a statement, Lily Liu, the President of Solana Foundation, expressed her excitement about the collaboration, stating that it further strengthens their commitment to utilizing blockchain for global benefit. She believes that the alliance will facilitate impactful change by bringing together its partners.
