According to a dashboard provided by Arkham, a blockchain intelligence firm, the top five crypto whales with publicly known wallet addresses hold approximately $3.5 billion in crypto. However, a significant portion of this amount is currently inaccessible due to lost passwords and private keys.
On April 15, Arkham announced an updated dashboard that reveals the holdings of some of the world’s wealthiest crypto holders and whales, including Justin Sun from Tron and Vitalik Buterin from Ethereum. The data shows that the top five crypto holders on the list collectively own $3.47 billion in digital assets. However, around 35% or $1.21 billion of this total has been marked as ‘inaccessible.’
Justin Sun ranks at the top of the list with a reported $1.06 billion in his crypto wallet. The majority of his holdings consist of his own stablecoin, Decentralized USD (USDD), valued at $275 million, followed by Tron (TRX), the native token of the Tron network, with a worth of $237 million.
Rain Lõhmus, the founder of LHV Bank in Estonia, holds the second position on Arkham’s list with $769 million worth of Ether. However, this amount has been marked as inaccessible since it was reported in November that Lõhmus lost access to his private key.
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, holds the third position on the list with a wallet containing $757 million, primarily in ETH. He owns 245,425 tokens.
Stefan Thomas, the former chief technology officer at Ripple, appears fourth on the list with a Bitcoin wallet worth $442 million. However, his Bitcoin holdings have also been marked as inaccessible. Thomas lost access to over 7,000 Bitcoin in 2011 after misplacing the password to his encrypted hard drive.
James Fickel, a crypto venture capitalist, rounds out the top five with $436 million worth of digital assets in his wallet, according to Arkham.
The top ten also includes notable crypto wallets such as Patricio Worthalter, an early adopter, who holds $219 million worth of assets, primarily in ETH. Winslow Strong, a General Partner at Cluster Capital, is listed as holding $27.5 million worth of digital assets.
The dashboard provided by Arkham displays public wallets tagged by the firm, along with the current token holdings and balance history of the individuals. It also provides a breakdown of portfolios across different chains, historical daily balances, and recent activity.
However, it’s important to note that the list does not include whale wallets associated with unknown or pseudonymous owners, such as Bitcoin’s creator Satoshi Nakamoto, whose BTC holdings are estimated to be worth tens of billions across multiple addresses. Additionally, there are other crypto titans who are not currently linked to a specific wallet address.
