Regional experiences transformed into mintable NFTs by innovative Web3 travel app

When venturing to a new area, it’s always exciting to anticipate the delightful experiences and lasting memories that await. From exploring ancient ruins to stumbling upon a local musician’s impromptu performance, the allure of embracing the essence of a tourist visit keeps the travel industry thriving.

However, as the idea of visiting a specific region evolves into a concrete plan, travelers quickly realize that turning their dreams of Nordic fjords into a reality requires careful scheduling, booking, and transactions. Despite the travel industry’s decade-long digital transformation, travel systems still operate on a surprisingly local scale. This limits the market reach of travel agencies, regional attractions, and vendors such as museums and event venues, making it difficult for them to market and sell their offerings to a global audience. Even when they do manage to sell tickets to a global customer base for a limited time, the lack of comprehensive customer insights makes it challenging to replicate that success.

For travelers, this translates into unnecessarily complicated booking processes that involve using multiple apps and services for ticketing. Additionally, the inherent risks associated with visiting a new place for the first time necessitate full traceability and transparency throughout the travel experience.

Fortunately, blockchain technology is here to revolutionize the traditional “Web2” travel industry by seamlessly integrating local offerings with global platforms. One such solution is VisitorApp, a blockchain-powered ticketing platform that simplifies regional travel for both travelers and industry participants.

VisitorApp utilizes the Camino Network, the first blockchain designed specifically for the travel industry, to offer users a one-stop shop for discovering and purchasing local offerings directly from regional vendors. The VisitorApp team has dedicated four years to creating regional platforms and mobile apps for cities, regions, and event organizers.

What sets VisitorApp apart is its hybrid approach, which bridges the gap between Web2 and Web3 technologies. Users can register and make purchases using fiat currency, tokens, blockchain wallets, and conventional e-ticketing solutions. As part of their vision to merge the Web2 experience with Web3 capabilities, VisitorApp is also working on integrating crypto payments. Every purchase made through VisitorApp is accompanied by a non-fungible token (NFT) ticket via Camino Network. These NFTs serve as digital collectibles and provide transparent and verifiable proof of purchase.

During the recent Decode Travel hackathon in April 2024, VisitorApp’s application was put into practice, allowing event participants to mint their event tickets on Camino Network through VisitorApp. This demonstrated an active use case for travel tech developers.

Camino Network is easily accessible to travel industry stakeholders, enabling any regional vendor to connect to a global hub. While users experience a simplistic front-end design on the application, blockchain technology facilitates seamless, secure, and global communication in the background.

VisitorApp is currently working on integrating with Camino Messenger, which will grant regional offers direct access to the worldwide Camino Network, making regional attractions visible to a broader audience. This integration will be crucial in connecting regional activities directly to the global travel market.

Customers using VisitorApp can simultaneously purchase various offers from different vendors across different regions and store them in their mobile VisitorApp Wallet within their travel folder. The platform also supports white labeling, allowing destinations and regions to create their own ecosystem tailored to their specific needs.

One of the key advantages of Camino Network is its efficient and community-driven environment, which reduces costs, increases speed, and ensures data transparency. As a result, every transaction made on VisitorApp, whether it’s a ticket purchase, tour booking, or activity reservation, is authenticated and traceable. This level of transparency fosters a new sense of trust between service providers and travelers.

Stefan Follmer, the Chief Operating Officer of VisitorApp, highlights the lack of advancements in the tourism market for tickets, tours, and activities, particularly in smaller and less professionally marketed destinations. VisitorApp, powered by Camino Network, aims to address these needs and offer a secure and reliable experience while creating personalized and memorable experiences for travelers worldwide.
