Stepn, a popular game that allows users to earn rewards on the Solana blockchain, is taking a step towards social interaction with the introduction of a new app and token. The game’s developer, FSL, recently announced the launch of Stepn Go, a social lifestyle app that incentivizes daily movement and social engagement.
With Stepn Go, users now have the ability to share their digital sneakers with friends and family who are new to the app, as well as split the earnings. The app also offers various social features, such as adding friends, messaging, avatars, and additional gameplay options, all of which allow players to earn GMT rewards.
To enhance this new experience, the Stepn Go game introduces a new token called the Go Game Token (GGT). Similar to Stepn’s existing utility token, the Green Satoshi Token (GST), the GGT token can be earned by walking, jogging, and running with digital sneakers. FSL has also released the Stepn Go white paper, providing further details on the token and its functionalities.
The original Stepn app was launched in 2021 and quickly became one of the largest move-to-earn games in the world. It was also one of the first fitness applications to incorporate gamification on the Web3 platform.
The game operates on a dual token system, with GST serving as the utility token with an unlimited supply, and the Green Metaverse Token (GMT) acting as Stepn’s governance token.
In recent years, the GameFi industry, which combines gaming with decentralized finance (DeFi), experienced a decline. However, with the recent surge in cryptocurrency prices, the industry has seen a resurgence, with the number of daily active wallets in GameFi doubling over the past year.
Stepn has been actively engaging with its community and forging partnerships to further enhance its offerings. In April, the game collaborated with German athletic apparel brand Adidas for a limited drop of 1,000 Genesis Edition non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on the Solana blockchain. Stepn also announced an airdrop of 100 million FSL points, valued at approximately $30 million, as a reward for its dedicated players.
Overall, Stepn’s move towards social integration and the introduction of the Stepn Go app and GGT token demonstrate the game’s commitment to evolving and providing a rewarding gaming experience for its users.
