NiceHash, a cloud crypto mining platform, has unveiled a new firmware product developed in partnership with Marathon Digital. This collaboration allows retail and home miners to access the cutting-edge technology of the mining company.

The newly launched firmware, named NiceHash Firmware Powered by MARA, brings together the expertise of Marathon Digital, recognized as the world’s largest Bitcoin (BTC) miner in terms of market capitalization and efficiency. In the month of May alone, Marathon Digital successfully mined 390 BTC. According to Ashu Swami, the chief technology officer of Marathon Digital, the mining firmware combines the best features from both companies.

Marathon Digital initially introduced the MARAFW firmware in March for its extensive fleet of over 200,000 ASICs and enterprise clients. The NiceHash Firmware Powered by MARA is a unique product that blends the strengths of both companies. Users will be charged a fee of 2%, which decreases to 1.4% when utilizing the NiceHash pool.

NiceHash firmware is compatible with various models of application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) mining machines and ASIC management tools. It supports a range of algorithms and can seamlessly switch between them depending on their efficiencies. Additionally, it has recently added support for the Kadena’s Blake2s algorithm, allowing for Kadena (KDA) coin mining.

Apart from its firmware product, NiceHash offers features such as autotuning, temperature control, and a mobile app for remote ASIC management. The company also operates a hashrate market where ASIC owners can sell their hashing power for any coin supported by NiceHash. This unique system ensures that sellers are paid the average price of all orders in the NiceHash pool, minimizing their risk.

As the profitability of crypto mining remains a topic of interest, especially after the recent halving that reduced miners’ profits, there is a growing focus on supporting the mining industry. United States presidential candidate Donald Trump has voiced his support for the U.S. crypto mining sector, although some have questioned the sincerity of his statements.

Along with providing software and mining services, NiceHash is committed to pooling resources to bolster the mining community. The collaboration with Marathon Digital signifies a step towards advancing the capabilities of retail and home miners in the ever-evolving crypto landscape.
