Martin Shkreli, famously known as “Pharma Bro,” has claimed his involvement in the creation of the DJT token, which is based on Solana. The token has sparked intense speculation, especially after rumors suggested it was linked to Donald Trump’s son.
In an X Spaces event on June 18, Shkreli disclosed that he was “assisting a friend” in launching the token back in April. He mentioned that approximately 10 individuals were directly involved in its development, with 40 to 50 others being aware of its existence. People who attended the event reported that Shkreli mentioned Barron Trump, the son of Donald Trump, as one of those involved.
The X Spaces session took place shortly after Arkham Intelligence offered a $150,000 reward to anyone who could identify the creator of the DJT token. This offer was in response to Shkreli accepting a $100 million bet from a prominent crypto trader named GCR, who questioned the legitimacy of the token.
“Let’s do it. $150,000 to the first person who can definitively prove the identity of the creator of $DJT,” Arkham announced on X on June 18.
While bets continue to circulate online regarding whether the DJT token was launched by Trump or a member of his family, the decentralized betting platform Polymarket indicates that nearly $1.9 million has been wagered on the token’s authenticity.
Following Shkreli’s X Spaces event, the number of bets in favor of the token being legitimate decreased from 17% to 7%. The rumors linking Trump and his son to the DJT token originated from a post on the tech blog Pirate Wires, which mentioned conversations with undisclosed sources.
DJT is currently trading at 0.012, marking a significant decrease from its peak of 0.036. This information was provided by Birdseye.
