Silke Noa, a member of AssangeDAO, revealed in a recent post that approximately 11,000 Ether valued at $37 million has been utilized for the legal defense and advocacy efforts of The Clock, a project within AssangeDAO, out of a total of 16,593 ETH.

Noa clarified that the Wau Holland Foundation managed the 16,593 Ether allocation from their Safe.global multisig address for this purpose.

Assange, an Australian journalist and activist, established WikiLeaks, a platform known for disclosing classified and sensitive information, and has been detained since April 2019.

Harry Halpin, CEO of Nym, discussed AssangeDAO’s ongoing efforts with Cointelegraph, highlighting the fact that they were aware of Julian’s legal team facing financial challenges and decided to use this type of fundraising to support his legal defense.

Joshua Bate, a core team member of AssangeDAO, informed Cointelegraph that the funds were raised through contributions from the onchain and cypherpunk communities, creating awareness of the situation and prompting decentralized community action.

Bate also mentioned that the on-chain funds were used to acquire a unique one-of-one non-fungible token (NFT) in collaboration with Assange himself.

Another core team member responsible for the initial design of AssangeDAO’s governance structure spoke with Cointelegraph about the Pak NFT, stating that this marked the first historical event in which an NFT community played a role in aiding the release of an individual from prison.

However, they emphasized that there can be no celebration until “everything is all settled.”
