Investcorp, a global asset manager, disclosed a collaboration between its Strategic Capital Group (ISCG) and Securitize, a specialist in asset tokenization, in a press release dated June 26.
The tokenized fund aims to offer accredited investors exposure to ISCG’s strategy of staking in general partners, a method of private equity investment that involves acquiring minority stakes in asset management firms directly, rather than investing in the funds those firms manage.
Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize, highlighted the inclusive opportunities that tokenized investment products offer individual investors following the announcement of the private equity tokenized fund.
Real-world asset tokenization has emerged as a prominent topic within the crypto industry, positioning itself as the second most profitable sector after memecoins. In the first half of 2024, asset tokenization projects yielded a remarkable 214% return for investors.
Assets ranging from government bonds to real estate can now be tokenized, delivering increased efficiency and liquidity to investors while significantly accelerating the circulation of capital in the economy. Analysts project that by 2030, the market for real-world asset tokenization will expand to $2 trillion in digitized assets.
Tether recently showcased a compelling application of asset tokenization with the launch of Alloy, a stablecoin pegged to the U.S. dollar and backed by gold. This innovative hybrid combines the stability of precious metals with the utility of a fiat-pegged token.
The trend towards real-world asset tokenization is influencing institutional investors to adopt cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. Kunal Bhasin from KPMG Canada discussed in a recent interview with Cointelegraph how institutional investors are poised to embrace tokenized commercial real estate, awaiting further market maturity and robust investment options.
These developments also foster inclusivity, enabling individual investors and family offices to participate in high-value commercial real estate opportunities traditionally reserved for larger entities and investors.
