Binance, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange, and the blockchain ecosystem have recently unveiled a unique initiative to encourage more women to engage in the industry. They have combined high-end luxury goods with finance by introducing a new luxury fragrance called Crypto.
The female marketing leaders at Binance announced their efforts to promote inclusivity within the company, with a specific focus on attracting women. To celebrate International Women’s Day on March 8, they launched a marketing campaign featuring the Crypto fragrance.
Originally, the Crypto fragrance was part of a series of luxury ads for Binance’s inclusivity campaign, “Crypto is Yours.” The company aimed to draw inspiration from beauty advertising conventions while challenging the norms of the crypto space.
Rachel Conlan, Binance’s Chief Marketing Officer, emphasized the valuable contributions women have made in the crypto industry based on her personal experience. She described the Crypto fragrance as not just a scent but also a message to women that they have a significant role to play in the crypto revolution.
The main goal of this initiative is to encourage more women to explore the world of crypto. Binance plans to reward the first 5,000 women who complete one of their beginner crypto courses with $25 in Tether (USDT).
Conlan emphasized that crypto is a universal field, and everyone should be empowered to participate. In a previous interview with Cointelegraph, Binance co-founder He Yi advised individuals interested in the space to ignore gender and focus on mindset to succeed in Web3.
Binance is not the only crypto platform targeting the women’s demographic. Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, pledged $10 million to support women-led Web3 startups through the Blockchain4Her initiative, which promotes gender diversity and inclusivity in the industry.
According to a report from Bitget Research, women-led or created startups received only $1.77 billion out of the $27.85 billion in Web3 venture capital funding between Q1 2022 and Q3 2023, accounting for approximately 6.43%. Female-led Web3 startups constituted less than 9% of all startups in the space, highlighting the efforts of major industry players to encourage women’s participation.
