The BlockShow x BlockDown Festival is preparing to host an exciting hackathon event in Hong Kong on May 8-9, 2024. This 48-hour chain-agnostic event aims to highlight the skills and creativity of local Web3 developers and entrepreneurs. Epic Web3, with its extensive experience in hosting conferences, communities, and hackathons, is co-organizing the event. In 2023 alone, they successfully organized and executed 10 events for Web3 developers.
The BlockShow x BlockDown Festival is a dynamic global Web3 community that brings together builders, industry pioneers, thought leaders, and entrepreneurs. Their goal is to create enjoyable and engaging industry events that provide value to all participants.
Addy Crezee, the founder of BlockShow by Cointelegraph, expressed his enthusiasm for the hackathon and encouraged interested individuals to click here for more information on how to participate.
The hackathon offers two exciting tracks for participants to compete in. The first track, called “startup,” challenges developers to launch innovative products that contribute to mass adoption. The second track, “tooling and infra,” focuses on building for the Web3 developer community.
The hackathon will commence on May 7 with an official kick-off and opening event. This will be followed by technical workshops, mentoring sessions, and project development starting on May 8. The final day of the event, May 9, will involve a pitching workshop and the submission of the projects. The hackathon will conclude with a pitching competition and awards ceremony to recognize the best entries.
Participants have the opportunity to win prizes and secure funding of up to $50,000 for their successful submissions. Additionally, participating in the hackathon will grant individuals a dev pass, providing free access to the BlockShow X BlockDown event.
Alex Pisarevski, the founder of EpicWeb3, highlighted the submission requirements, which include an open-source code repository URL with publicly accessible code and an open-source license. A text description of the project’s features, functionality, and chosen track is also necessary, along with a demonstration video of no more than three minutes.
All submissions must be in English, and at least one representative from each competing team must attend the hackathon in person.
Interested individuals can find more information and register for the event here and at DoraHacks.
Erhan Korhaliller, the founder and CEO of EAK Digital and BlockDown Festival, emphasized that the BlockShow X BlockDown Asia 2024 event, co-organized by Cointelegraph and EAK Digital, expects to bring together 100 media outlets, industry speakers, and over 5,000 attendees. The event will also feature a gaming zone, gamification experiences, and Startup Connect, providing a platform for investors and startups in the Web3 and cryptocurrency industry to connect.
