Alipay, the online payment platform, has teamed up with Avalanche, a smart contract blockchain platform, to create a voucher program utilizing Web3 technology. This collaboration was announced on March 20th, revealing that Alipay’s ordering solution, Alipay+ D-store, and partnered e-wallets are now utilizing Avalanche for this innovative voucher program. The program was initially launched in Southeast Asian milk tea shops, allowing customers to acquire vouchers by participating in a mini-game. After completing the game, customers can claim their vouchers in their e-wallets. These vouchers provide users with discounts of up to 50% at over 500 milk tea shops. The vouchers are powered by an Avalanche Subnet, which is built and managed by the blockchain service AvaCloud. Avalanche aims to provide brands like Alipay with a taste of what Web3 technology has to offer through this voucher program. Additionally, the program allows Alipay to collaborate with other brands, utilizing blockchain-powered features and digital collectibles. Currently, the program is in the proof-of-concept (POC) stage, with plans to expand to over 2,000 stores and reach 100 million users. Avalanche has been actively expanding its ecosystem by partnering with well-known brands. In February, the platform partnered with SI Tickets, the ticketing arm of Sports Illustrated, to host their nonfungible token (NFT) ticketing platform, Box Office. This partnership resulted in NFT tickets being minted on the Avalanche network. Furthermore, Avalanche has also made strides in the gaming industry by announcing a collaboration with the popular MMORPG MapleStory. This collaboration will allow MapleStory to expand into an Avalanche subnet, providing users with exciting content-generation opportunities.
