Magmic Unveils MLB Idle Tycoon Web3 Game with Official License

Gaming company Magmic, known for games like “UFC Fight Card Rummy” and “Idle Pet Paradise,” made an exciting announcement at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco. They revealed their plans to release a new mobile and browser game based on the Major League Baseball (MLB) license, offering players a unique Web3 gaming experience.

The game, whose title is yet to be disclosed, falls under the “idle tycoon” genre, where players will have the opportunity to create and develop their own baseball stadium. The game will feature licensing from both MLB and MLB Players Association, allowing players to trade players and construct their own MLB ballpark. Although specific gameplay details are being kept secret for now, Magmic CEO Mo Agha shared some exciting information about the game.

Magmic, founded in 2002, has made a name for itself as a leading mobile gaming company. Initially gaining popularity with its Texas Hold ‘Em King franchise and other titles for Blackberry games, the company has since amassed over 250 million downloads of its games. With a player base in the millions, Magmic continues to thrive in the industry.

The company has also developed games based on well-known intellectual properties, including a mobile version of Hasbro’s Scattergories powered by ChatGPT, as well as a real-money rummy game on iOS featuring the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) license.

The new MLB-licensed game will support both Web3 and Web2 gameplay. Users will have the ability to trade digital assets, such as ballplayers, within the game. However, players will also have the option to enjoy the game in its entirety as a traditional Web2 experience on mobile and browser, without engaging in the monetized and asset-based Web3 features.

Magmic’s CEO, Mo Agha, expressed his excitement about the upcoming game in a press release. He emphasized the company’s commitment to delivering an immersive gaming experience and catering to both Web3 and Web2 players.

In related news, Sequence recently partnered with Google Cloud to simplify Web3 gaming development, showcasing the growing interest and investment in the Web3 gaming industry.
