In an effort to expand the Web3 gaming ecosystem and attract more gamers, companies in the blockchain gaming industry are forming strategic partnerships. Immutable, a leading blockchain gaming platform, recently announced that it has added 75 new Web3 games to its platform in the past three months, bringing the total number of blockchain-based games on Immutable to 270.
As part of its expansion into Web3 gaming, crypto exchange OKX has partnered with Immutable. Jason Lau, the chief innovation officer of OKX, expressed his belief that Web3 has the potential to greatly enhance gamers’ experiences by enabling true ownership and driving innovation in gaming. Lau emphasized that Web3 allows gamers to own, trade, and earn from their in-game assets, which not only enhances the gaming experience but also encourages unique game mechanics, business models, and community involvement.
To further support the adoption of Web3 gaming, OKX and Immutable are working on a GameFi launchpad. This launchpad will provide a platform for gaming launches on Immutable’s zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) chain. Lau believes that the launchpad will improve the discoverability and access to upcoming Web3 games, experiences, and assets for the crypto community.
In addition to the launchpad, OKX will offer a suite of solutions for games launching on the Immutable chain, including its exchange, wallet, and nonfungible token marketplace. The OKX Wallet service will also be integrated with Immutable Passport, a login method developed by Immutable specifically for games within its ecosystem.
Lau emphasized the importance of unique game mechanics and community cultivation for blockchain gaming firms. He believes that these firms have a crucial role in onboarding gamers into the Web3 world and urged them to prioritize creating unique gaming experiences. Lau also highlighted the need for gaming companies to educate players about the benefits of Web3.
Immutable has been actively improving its gaming ecosystem by introducing features that make Web3 gaming more accessible and user-friendly. For example, the platform recently launched zkEVM, a zero-knowledge proof scaling platform that eliminates gas fees for users, making the onboarding process smoother for Web3 gamers. Additionally, Immutable introduced its passport wallet infrastructure, which allows users to create and recover their wallets using their Google or Apple accounts, making account management more convenient for Web3 gamers.
In summary, the partnership between OKX and Immutable aims to expand the Web3 gaming ecosystem and provide gamers with enhanced experiences through true ownership, unique game mechanics, and community involvement. The upcoming GameFi launchpad and the integration of OKX solutions with Immutable’s platform will further support the adoption of Web3 gaming.
