The founder of Open Builders, the team behind the viral clicker game Notcoin, claims that the game has successfully brought Telegram users into the world of crypto. Sasha Plotvinov, in an interview at the Token2049 event, revealed that the game garnered 20 million sign-ups in just 26 days after its release in January. This achievement showcased that it is possible to introduce millions of users to crypto through gaming, surpassing the monthly active users of the popular blockchain-based game Axie Infinity. Plotvinov shared that the original intention was to introduce crypto to Telegram users, leveraging the platform’s large user base and the advanced technology of the TON blockchain. The team focused on simplifying the onboarding process, making it social and interactive with competitions, leaderboards, and squads. The game’s success was organic, with 53,000 communities competing to reach the highest league. Notcoin adopted a different approach by not trying to convince users of its value and instead embracing the idea that it may be nothing. The game’s achievements signify a breakthrough in onboarding users into the crypto space through innovative gaming experiences.
