A purported hacker managed to gain control of Frax Finance’s X social media account without tampering with the passwords. Frax Finance CEO Sam Kazemian sought help from his followers on X to contact X customer service and regain control of the account. Users reported that it typically takes around 72 hours for X to address complaints related to compromised accounts. The process involves submitting a support request with a linked email address and providing additional information as directed. Kazemian stated that the passwords were not tampered with and suspected the involvement of an insider at X rather than any issues within Frax Finance. As of the time of writing, there have been no updates on the recovery of the account, and Kazemian advised avoiding all website links shared from compromised X accounts. Frax Finance apparently managed to establish a direct line of communication with X’s customer support team. The hacking of X accounts is not limited to crypto protocols, as prominent traders, rappers, and celebrities have also experienced similar breaches. These hacked accounts were used to promote various cryptocurrencies, including Terra, Ordi, and celebrity-inspired memecoins. Some community members expressed disappointment that the hacker did not take advantage of the scam to pump up micro cap coins more significantly. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of account compromises in the crypto industry.
