Coinbase, a popular cryptocurrency exchange, has denied any knowledge of a data breach involving its customers’ information on the Au10tix compliance platform. The denial comes in response to a report that claimed employee credentials from Au10tix were leaked on Telegram. Despite the presence of the Coinbase logo on the Au10tix website, Coinbase maintains that it has not experienced any data exposure. Au10tix is an identity verification platform used by various companies, including Fiverr, TikTok, Uber, and Coinbase, to store users’ personal information. An Au10tix representative clarified that while an employee credential was leaked, there is no evidence that the data has been exploited. The leaked credentials were discovered by cybersecurity firm SpiderSilk on Telegram, and it is believed that an attacker infected an Au10tix employee’s computer with malware to obtain them. A security researcher from SpiderSilk was able to access customer data from one of Au10tix’s clients using the leaked credentials, including personal information and images of American driver’s licenses. Au10tix has since removed the credentials and claims that there was no malicious activity or data leakage. The compliance platform has also taken steps to prevent similar incidents in the future. Coinbase has not confirmed or denied its use of Au10tix for customer data storage but maintains that it is unaware of any breach related to this incident.
